You Should Join the CABP...
If you came to Canada after 1 July 1977
If you arrived in Canada after 1 July 1977 and were over the age of 25 at that date, you will not qualify for a full Canadian Old Age Security pension by the time you reach age 65. Join the CABP and attend a public information meeting to ensure your British pension gets indexed to the cost of living to cover this shortfall.
If you already receive a British Pension
Your British Pension is not index-linked for inflation because you live in Canada. Your British Pension will not increase with inflation and the rising cost of living. If you lived in the United States or the Philippines, or a host of other countries, you would receive the full, index-linked British Pension. This is discrimination! Join the CABP and attend a public information meeting to join the fight to end discrimination and win a full index-linked UK pension.
As a member of the CABP, you will learn how to get the most from your current "frozen" British Pension. For example, did you know that when you visit the UK, you may be eligible to receive the full, indexed-linked British Pension for the period of your stay? However, you have only 30 days to notify the UK government of your dates of arrival and departure or you will be denied your uprating of pension. Join the CABP and attend a public information meeting to learn how to get the most from your current British Pension.
Do you qualify for a British pension?
If you have worked in the UK, you may qualify for a British pension. You will need 10 or 11 working years in the UK to qualify for the minimum pension. However, you are allowed to back pay up to 5 or 6 years to attain this status. The Pension Act 2007 brings changes to the rules. If you reach State Pension age on or after 6 April 2010 you will require only 30 years of contributions to qualify for a full pension, or you may qualify for a reduced pension with only one year of contribution.
Join the CABP and attend a public information meeting to learn how to qualify for your UK pension.
